Nine new #hearts are on their way down to #Homestead to replace the ones that were taken. Thank you Enrique Baloyra

I have no idea why I originally made nine of them. Out of curiosity I just looked up the symbolism of 9 hearts, turns out that in cartomancy it it the “wish” card!

It is hard to explain how I have become emotionally attached to a piece of cardboard. These #PropsForProtest are used on a daily basis by witnesses to let the kids know that we are there for them, that they are not alone and that we are fighting for them. I see them as a stand in for me when I cannot be there. Those children are on my mind every second of every day. They are not a statistic, they are not a number, they are innocent kids with whom I have made eye contact, with whom I have engaged in silly body mimicking, who I have laughed with and who sometimes have shouted directly to me across the fence.

It really difficult to know what the hell is going on there right now. There is a flurry of activity that makes absolutely no sense. There is a ton of pressure from every angle to #ShutItDown. I can only keep my fingers crossed and hope that my “wish” comes true.
